Dylan Aiello: Beyond The Rep

Through a series of solo and ensemble games and exercises, we will trace the power of inner and outer gazes to spark discovery in the body and imagination. Engaging with tempo, weight, and the senses, we will dig into found scores of habitual actions and experiment with narrative, improvisation, and impulse within a space of ritualized communal play.

This workshop is open to all, with no prior acting, dance, or performance experience required. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for unrestricted movement.

Lunch will be included.

This event is offered on a sliding scale with a suggested $50 donation.

Dylan Aiello—known to many as the PUMPKING—is a London-based actor, theatre maker, performance artist, and workshop facilitator. He recently completed his training in the MA Theatre Lab at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), London.

Rooted in diverse physical theatre lineages, Dylan’s work places the body and the actor’s playful process at its core, navigating themes of persona, social taboo, grief, and the creative act. He seeks glimmers of beauty and inspiration in the habitual, mining everyday actions for glimpses behind the curtain. Dylan has collaborated with artists and directors across Europe and North America, including Euripides Laskaridis, Bruce LaBruce, Ed Fornieles, Wet Mess, and Rosa Aiello.

Building community and leading transformational workshops are central to his practice. During the COVID lockdown, he founded the PUMPKING movement, keeping bodies active and connected. Since then, he has continued developing research methodologies based on Grotowski’s action scores, Decroux’s Corporeal Mime, Lecoq’s mask work, and Commedia dell'Arte Lazzi. These techniques help collaborators tap into creative impulses and generate new work through embodied improvisation. Dylan has led workshops across Europe, including in London, Berlin, Malta, Stockholm, and Calabria.
